Chapter 35

Sidharth gently rubbed Shehnaaz’s arms when he felt her skin growing colder. His voice was soft and caring, “Andar chale mera bachha… you are cold, and you still haven’t changed.” Without waiting for her response, he scooped her up into his arms, effortlessly carrying her towards the bedroom. Shehnaaz felt a rush of excitement, her toes curling in anticipation as they moved.

The bedroom, which she hadn’t had the chance to properly notice earlier, now appeared serene and inviting. It had a warm, cozy charm that instantly put her at ease, making her feel a sense of belonging.

Sidharth carefully set her down, watching as she disappeared into the bathroom to change. While she was gone, he busied himself with lighting up the fireplace, wanting to keep the room warm and comfortable. The sound of raindrops tapping against the window filled the room, and he felt a sense of relief that they had returned just in time before the rain started pouring.

When Shehnaaz came back, she was wrapped in a satin top and shorts, the kind that always took his breath away. His heart raced at the sight of her — his innocent yet irresistibly alluring Shehnaaz moving towards him. He couldn’t help but feel captivated by her. As she reached him, he gently pulled her into his arms, guiding her down onto the bed, holding her close.

He settled comfortably, his arm tightly wrapped around her waist while she lay on top of him. Her head rested against his chest, and her fingers absentmindedly played with his, tangling and untangling them as if she found solace in the simple action.

Trying to break the comfortable silence, he asked, “When are you going back to college…? It’s already been more than what you had applied for.”

Shehnaaz, however, frowned at the mention of college. Her face scrunched up in a grumpy expression, making him roll his eyes. “Typical teenager,” he thought with a small smile tugging at his lips. She shifted in his embrace, rolling like a small football, trying to find the most comfortable spot. “Outing pe koi college ki baat karta hai kya?” she complained, as if he were at fault for even bringing it up. She quickly turned on the TV, eager to change the subject and immerse herself in something else.

Sidharth chuckled softly, his chest vibrating under her head, as he tightened his hold on her. For him, this moment felt perfect — the warmth of the fire, the softness of the rain outside, and Shehnaaz’s playful innocence filling his heart with a happiness he had almost forgotten. As she nestled closer, he realized just how much he adored these little moments with her, how they made everything else in the world seem insignificant.

Sidharth held her even closer, savoring the peacefulness of the moment. They were so close, their bodies pressed together with no one around to interrupt them. There was no rush, no urgency, just the quiet comfort of being together. It felt like they had all the time in the world, just for themselves.

As he glanced at the TV, he noticed she had paused on a ghost movie. A smirk spread across his face when he saw the color drain from hers. “Dar lag raha hai toh kyu dekh rahi ho…? Change it, baby,” he teased gently, amusement in his eyes.

Feeling challenged by his words, Shehnaaz moved even closer, snuggling deeper into his embrace. Sidharth responded instantly, pulling her against him until he was spooning her, his arms wrapped protectively around her. She was clearly scared, but her stubborn eyes refused to leave the screen. “Me darati nahi hun… thik hai…” she mumbled, her voice betraying a slight tremor. A particularly terrifying scene flashed across the screen, and she shrieked, burying her face into his chest.

Sidharth burst into laughter, the sound filling the room. It was so sudden and genuine, he couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction. She glared up at him, offended, but he tried to calm down, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. “Of course, you’re not scared,” he chuckled, his tone teasing. When she tried to move away in mock anger, he quickly pulled her back, his arm snaking around her waist, drawing her into his warmth as he covered them both with the soft duvet.

Her breath hitched as she realized just how close they were, their faces only inches apart. The intensity of Sidharth’s gaze sent shivers down her spine, making her heart race. Trying to distract herself from his eyes that seemed to pierce right through her, she tilted her head up, resting her chin on his chest, and asked with a playful pout, “Agar me abhi apka fayada uthau toh…?” Her voice was soft, filled with a mix of mischief and nervousness. She felt a flutter in her stomach as his fingers began to gently trace patterns on her lower back, each touch sending electric sparks through her.

Sidharth’s expression shifted, his eyes darkening with a possessive intensity that made her knees weak. “All yours, baby…” he murmured in a deep, husky voice that sent a thrill through her. Her heart fluttered wildly in her chest, unable to handle the sudden rush of emotions. Overwhelmed by his gaze, she shyly hid her face in the crook of his neck, feeling the heat rise to her cheeks.

He smiled, feeling the warmth of her breath against his skin, knowing that these little moments, these precious seconds of closeness, were everything he could ever want. Her laughter, her teasing, her playfulness—it all made him fall deeper, drawing him into the comfort of this unexpected yet beautiful connection they shared.

“Kya huva mera bachha…?” Sidharth whispered softly, watching with delight as her cheeks turned a deeper shade of pink. His fingers gently dug into her waist, feeling her soft skin beneath his touch. She was so delicate, like she was made of rose petals. A thought crossed his mind — how would someone as tender as her ever bear with him, someone so intense?

Shehnaaz, still flustered, nuzzled her nose beneath his ear like a stubborn child, her voice barely above a whisper as she mumbled, “Shaadi ke baad… you are not allowed to wear t-shirt while sleeping…” Her cheeks flushed an even deeper pink as the words left her mouth, and she couldn’t bring herself to look at him.

Sidharth was taken aback by her unexpected demand. A wide grin spread across his face as he quickly turned her over on the bed with a swift, playful move. Shehnaaz gasped and opened her eyes, finding herself beneath him, his face hovering just above hers. “I can’t believe you said that… I don’t sleep in t-shirts anyway. I wore it today because I thought you might not feel comfy… but no worries… I’ll get it sorted right away,” he teased, his voice low and filled with amusement.

He smirked, watching her face turn bright red, her embarrassment evident. As he began to lift his shirt, her small hands shot out to stop him. “Offoo, abhi nahi…” she stammered, biting her lip, her blush deepening.

Sidharth chuckled softly, enjoying every bit of her shyness. He gently caressed her rosy cheek with the back of his knuckle, letting his touch linger. He then leaned in, placing a tender, lingering kiss on her temple. “Pagal hai mera bachha…” he murmured with affection, his voice a soothing balm to her flustered state.

For a moment, her blush seemed to fade away as she melted into his embrace, feeling his warmth envelop her completely. Her heart was pounding, but she felt safe, secure in his arms. Gathering her courage, she whispered, “Wada karo… ke agar main kabhi dar gayi… toh aap mujhe hamesha aise hi khud me chhupa loge…?” Her voice was soft, vulnerable, as she raised her hand in the air, waiting for his promise.

Staring deep into her eyes, Sidharth held Shehnaaz’s hand tightly within his. His gaze was unwavering, full of sincerity and depth. “I promise you, Shehnaaz… I will be there for you no matter the situation, no matter the consequences,” he whispered softly, his voice carrying a weight that made her heart flutter. He leaned forward and kissed her temple, sealing his promise with a gentle touch.

A promise… never to leave.
A promise… never to break.
A promise… never to forget.
A promise… never to be apart.

Their hearts had silently made these promises long before, a commitment so deep that words could never capture its essence. They had pledged to be together forever, with no breaks, no distances, and no separations. The strings that bound their relationship were strong, unyielding. She believed in her Sidharth — believed that he would make everything alright. She trusted him with an unwavering faith, more than she even trusted herself. He was her anchor, her safe harbor in every storm.

“Come here,” Sidharth mumbled, his voice low and soothing, a familiar tone he always used when he wanted her close. He pulled her into him, closer than ever before, his strong arms wrapping around her protectively. He held her as if he could shield her from the entire world, keeping her safe within his embrace.

Shehnaaz melted into his arms, her body fitting perfectly against his, their warmth mingling and spreading between them. It was a cocoon of safety, where no fear could touch her, no doubt could enter. She felt his heartbeat, steady and sure, against her own chest, and it lulled her into a state of calm she had never known before.

Slowly, their breathing began to sync, their hearts beating as one. Sidharth’s touch, so gentle yet firm, sent waves of peace through her. She sighed softly, her eyes fluttering closed as she felt his steady breaths against her hair, his fingers gently stroking her back in soothing circles.

Wrapped in each other’s warmth, they drifted off into a peaceful sleep, holding onto the unspoken promises that their hearts had made.

Shehnaaz opened her eyes slowly, still groggy from sleep, as she heard a soft voice calling her. Her gaze focused, and she saw Sidharth leaning over her, a fresh, bright smile lighting up his face. She couldn’t help but think, Perfect morning. She smiled back, murmuring, “Morning…”

“Morning, bachha,” he replied warmly before leaning down to capture her lips in a soft, lingering kiss. It was gentle yet deep, a kiss that seemed to convey all the affection in his heart. Shehnaaz’s eyes fluttered as she savored the moment, feeling her heart swell with happiness. What a perfect start to the day, she thought, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink.

He reluctantly pulled away, but not before planting a tender kiss on her forehead. “Get ready fast,” he said with a playful glint in his eyes. “I’ll get breakfast ready for us.”

Shehnaaz glanced out the window and noticed it was still dark outside. She couldn’t understand why he had woken up so early. She made a little pout, feeling like a sleepy child forced to leave the comfort of her warm bed, but she didn’t argue. She got up and went to freshen up, her mind still foggy with sleep.

After a quick shower, Shehnaaz slipped into a pair of shredded jeans and a casual t-shirt. As she descended the stairs, she could smell something delicious wafting from the kitchen. A small smile crept onto her lips as she headed straight there, her heart light and her curiosity piqued.

She found Sidharth at the counter, his back turned to her, busy preparing breakfast. He looked so at ease, moving around with confidence as he set plates and poured coffee into mugs. He glanced over his shoulder when he sensed her presence and gave her a warm smile.

Before he could say anything, Shehnaaz slipped her arms around his waist from behind, hugging him close. “Kya huva, jaan?” he asked, his voice tender as he felt her rest her head against his back.

She smiled mischievously and planted a soft kiss on his back. As she leaned back slightly, her eyes caught sight of a faint lipstick mark on his t-shirt. Her smile widened, and she bit her lower lip, trying to hold back a giggle. “Etna subah subah kon uthata hai bhala..?” she teased, her tone light and playful, though her lips still pouted slightly.

Sidharth chuckled as he realized what Shehnaaz was doing, feeling her rub the spot where her kiss had left a lipstick mark. “We’re going to the nearby fort,” he explained, amusement lacing his voice. “If we get there too late, we’ll have to deal with unnecessary paparazzi.”

Shehnaaz nodded, understanding the situation. They always had to be cautious about their privacy; that’s why he rarely took her to public places. She felt a pang of frustration about their need for secrecy, but she quickly brushed it off, knowing this was the only way they could enjoy their time together peacefully.

After finishing breakfast, Sidharth went to get the car while Shehnaaz grabbed a few snacks for them to enjoy on the drive. The moment she heard the car horn, she ran outside with an excited smile and hopped into the passenger seat beside him, her energy infectious.

Sidharth shook his head, amused by her childlike enthusiasm, and began to drive through the rain-soaked streets of Lonavala. The sky was overcast, and the light drizzle painted everything in shades of green and gray. The air was crisp, carrying the smell of wet earth, and Shehnaaz’s eyes sparkled as she gazed out at the lush greenery passing by.

She chattered endlessly, her voice lively as she talked about everything under the sun — from the way the rain made the trees look like they were dancing to how she loved the fresh, pure air around them. Her laughter filled the car, and Sidharth found himself smiling more than he usually did, his heart feeling lighter with every word she spoke.

After a while, Sidharth stopped at a small store on the way. He came back with a bag full of chocolates and snacks, grinning as he presented them to Shehnaaz. She squealed with joy like a little kid, her face lighting up with pure delight. “Just what I needed.” she said, clapping her hands in excitement.

He chuckled, pecking her forehead. Her happiness was so contagious that he couldn’t help but feel his heart swell with affection.

But soon enough, she began her protest again, her face set in a stubborn pout. “Maine nahi raincoat pehenna,” she demanded for what seemed like the tenth time, crossing her arms defiantly.

Sidharth sighed, rolling his eyes at her persistence. “Baby, you have to wear it if we’re getting out of the car,” he insisted, trying to sound firm but failing miserably as a small smile tugged at his lips. “Or else… plan cancel.”

Shehnaaz pouted, her face scrunching up in a grumpy expression. “Offooo!” she exclaimed in mock annoyance. Sidharth couldn’t help but chuckle at her antics. “Offoo, buffoo kuch nahi… zidd nahi karte mera bachha,” he said, trying to sound serious, but his soft tone gave away his amusement.

Still wearing her adorable baby face, she snuggled closer into his embrace. Sidharth sighed, knowing her tricks well by now. He kissed her hair softly, whispering, “Jaan, sardi ho jayegi… please samajho na.”

Shehnaaz kissed his arm, a silent indication that she had relented. Sidharth felt a wave of relief wash over him; she was finally agreeing. He shook his head with a smile as he resumed driving, his heart brimming with affection. His baby was the cutest thing in the world.

Shehnaaz smiled to herself, feeling warm and cherished. The way he cared for her was unlike anything she had ever known, and it made her heart flutter. She knew that in his eyes, she was his world, just as he was everything to her. She would do anything for him, no matter how stubborn she might act at times. She loved it when he pampered her, loved how he indulged her every whim, and loved giving in to his demands because she believed he could take care of her better than she ever could herself.

She pressed another kiss against his arm, letting him know she would always follow his words, even if she enjoyed acting a bit stubborn. It was never about defying him; it was just about the little games they played — games that deepened their bond, games that brought them closer, and games that were filled with love, care, and trust.

Shehnaaz’s train of thought was interrupted when the car came to a sudden halt, the screech of the brakes echoing in the air. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she took in the sight of the fort standing proudly before her.

Sidharth couldn’t help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. Leaning over, he kissed her temple softly. She grinned back at him, her face beaming with pure joy, and quickly hopped out of the car. He followed right behind, his gaze never leaving her.

Seeing the fort, Shehnaaz felt a surge of thrill at the idea of walking up to the highest point. She bounced on her toes like an excited child, finally understanding why Sidharth insisted on her wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and sports shoes. It all made sense now—there was a little adventure ahead!

Sidharth pulled out two backpacks from the car’s trunk and slung one over his shoulder. “Chale, jaan?” he asked, ready for the climb.

Shehnaaz’s eyes gleamed as she spotted the backpack on his back. “Mujhe bhi backpack chahiye?” she pouted, her eyes fixed on him. He looked so perfect, so effortlessly attractive, like he was all set for a trek. She couldn’t help but think to herself, Oh damn, did I tell him how killer he looks in that black t-shirt and those baggy jeans?

He rolled his eyes playfully, amused by her demand. “Jaan, bag mein raincoats hain, water bottles hain, food packets hain… heavy hai bag, bachha.” He gently cupped her cheeks, his voice soft and coaxing, hoping she’d understand.

Shehnaaz’s lips formed a stubborn pout, her eyes locked on his. He felt his heart almost give in to her adorable expression, but he knew the bag was too heavy for her. They had a long climb ahead, and it was going to take all their energy.

“While returning, I’ll carry it,” she insisted, determination in her voice. Sidharth sighed, a small smile playing on his lips. He leaned in and kissed her hair. “Thik hai baba… but first, where’s your jacket? It’s cold out here.”

Shehnaaz bit her lip and quickly grabbed the jackets she had carelessly tossed in the backseat, slipping hers on right away. The early morning chill was seeping in, making the air feel even colder.

They began their ascent up the stairs of the fort. Sidharth took steady, careful steps, while Shehnaaz bounced with excitement, hopping on each step like a playful child. He couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Gir jaogi aise tum… baarish ki vajah se slippery ho gaya hai, jaan,” he warned gently, his tone laced with concern.

Shehnaaz made a face at him, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Aap na, strict teacher jaise behave karoge na, toh main nahi aana,” she teased, her voice cracking with suppressed laughter.

Sidharth gave her a mock glare, but as always, her adorable expression melted him. With a resigned sigh, he took off his backpack and thrust it into her hands. She giggled, eagerly slipping it onto her back, curious about what he was up to. Bending slightly, he looked over his shoulder and said, “Hop on.”

A squeal of excitement escaped her lips, and without a moment’s hesitation, she jumped onto his back, clinging to him like a delighted child on a piggyback ride. Her laughter filled the air, a sound he loved more than anything.

Her giggles were like music to his ears, and he couldn’t resist turning his head slightly to kiss her cheek. Her blush deepened as she shyly hid her face against the back of his neck, his chuckles resonating through the air as he continued their climb.

They paused at a resting point, and Sidharth set her down to catch their breath. Shehnaaz immediately pulled out a packet of wafers, munching away happily. When he refused to eat, she playfully fed him anyway, ignoring his half-hearted protests. He rolled his eyes but eventually relented, taking a few bites to please her.

He kept her close, holding her snugly on his lap as they took in the breathtaking scenery. The lush greenery stretched out before them, and the misty clouds drifted lazily over the distant hills. For a moment, everything felt perfect, like the world had slowed down just for them.

Shehnaaz rested her head on his shoulder, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. “I love this,” she whispered, her voice barely above a murmur.

Sidharth smiled, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. “I love you,” he replied, his words filled with warmth and sincerity. Amidst the beauty of nature, they felt like they were the only two people in the world.

“Hum next time bike pe ayenge,” Shehnaaz suggested, turning to face Sidharth, whose eyes were fixed on her. “People are gonna notice us, baby,” he replied, matter-of-factly, as his fingers gently tucked a loose strand of hair back behind her ear.

Shehnaaz knew he was right. They were lucky that there weren’t many people climbing the fort with them. “Aap thode kam rich nahi ho sakte the?” she complained playfully, as if blaming him, and he chuckled in response.

They resumed their climb, but soon, the rain began to fall. Sidharth quickly pulled out their raincoats, helping her into hers first, despite her protests, before slipping on his own.

“Mujhe bhigna hai,” Shehnaaz muttered with a pout, but Sidharth didn’t budge. “Abhi nahi, mera bachha,” he replied firmly. His words confused her, but she trusted him and didn’t argue further.

Once they reached the top, Shehnaaz’s eyes sparkled with excitement at the stunning view, and she jumped into Sidharth’s arms. He smiled, kissing her temple softly, enjoying their closeness.

Standing at the edge with a rock behind her, Shehnaaz felt Sidharth’s arms wrap around her waist protectively, his chin resting on her shoulder. She turned to look at him, her heart fluttering at the sight of his face. Noticing her gaze, Sidharth raised his eyebrows, silently asking what was on her mind. Without a word, she leaned in and kissed him—a deep, soul-connecting kiss.

It was a kiss filled with meaning—a kiss of togetherness, of gratitude for having fought through the rough patches of life and finding each other again. She kissed him to express that he was her world, and she would give up anything for him, no matter how precious. Her love for him went beyond comprehension, her heart pounding with every beat.

Sidharth kissed her back with all the love he had, letting her know his fears—how he was scared of losing her, even for a moment, and how he regretted not always being able to protect her.

Shehnaaz took control of the kiss, and he groaned in passion, loving both the feisty spirit and the innocence of his little princess. When the moment ended, they continued their way back down, Sidharth piggybacking her, pampering her like always, making her feel cherished.

Their little world was all they needed—no fancy dates, no five-star dinners, no expensive gifts—just time, warmth, and love for each other.

On their way back to the cottage, Sidharth grabbed some takeaway food. By the time they reached home, Shehnaaz had already fallen asleep in his arms. He gently laid her on the sofa in the living room and went to the kitchen to warm the food.

Returning with a plate, he tried to wake her. “Please, baby… thoda sa kha lo.” he coaxed for the nth time. Shehnaaz, still half-asleep, wrapped her arms around his neck, pouting, “please, nahi na..”

Chuckling, Sidharth fed her the first bite, and her mood lightened as the delicious taste hit her. She soon started feeding them both, smiling all the while.

Once they finished, Sidharth carried her upstairs to the bedroom, cuddling her close as he pulled the duvet over them. In the comforting quiet of the room, she whispered softly, “Jana..”

“Hmm,” he murmured, caressing her hair as she rested on his chest. It was a peaceful, intimate moment, their hearts beating in perfect rhythm, their warmth mingling together.

Her fingers intertwined with his, and she looked up at his calm face, her voice barely a whisper. “I love you,” she confessed, simply and sincerely.

A wave of warmth washed over him at her words. Tightening his hold on her waist, he pulled her closer, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. “I love you too, mera bachha,” he whispered back, his voice full of love.
