Where every word breathes Love….

Chapter 6

Scared, both turned to see Dadi, who was completely absorbed in the movie. The poor men sighed in relief.

As they reached home, Shehnaaz’s face lit up with excitement. “Kya movie thi na… full on awesome,” she exclaimed cheerfully.

Abhi shot her a look that could kill, muttering under his breath as faked a smile at payal, “Ek toh puri movie ki waat laga di… aur upar se bol rahi hai… kya movie thi…”

Confused, Shehnaaz asked, “Jiju, aap akele kya badbada rahe ho?”

Abhi mocked, “Kuchh nahi saliji… you continue.”

Dadi maa, noticing the irritated mood of Abhi and wanted to tease him but he he already had a flat tyre. Rolling her eyes, she concluded. “Enough of it now… chalo sab sone jao ab.”

Sidharth, already yawning, got up instantly. “Good night everyone,” he said, eager to escape the chaos.

Shehnaaz shot him an annoyed look. Mr. Boring Shukla, she thought.

Everyone went to their rooms, while Shehnaaz wandered into Dadi maa’s room.

“Arre Shehnaaz beta, kya hua… aap soye nahi Abhi tak?” Dadi maa asked, surprised.

Shehnaaz plopped down on the bed. “Woh mujhe na bahot bore ho raha tha… toh socha aakar aapse baatein karoon.”

Dadi maa rolled her eyes, a knowing smile on her face. “Jab bhi aap aise aakar baithti hai… koi shaitani plan aap ke dimag mein chal raha hota hai… so what’s going on?”

Shehnaaz giggled cutely. “Woh Dadi maa, main soch rahi thi… ke ye Shukla ji itne boring kyun hai.”

“Shukla ji?” asked Dadi maa, confused.

Shehnaaz quickly corrected herself. “Mera matlab hai Sidharth… Sidharth ji.”

Dadi maa smiled and sat beside Shehnaaz. “Woh humesha se aise hi hai… serious types… calm and quiet nature.”

“Okay,” Shehnaaz smiled softly. “Toh kya aap ka mann nahi karta ke woh aap se baatein kare?”

Dadi maa patted Shehnaaz’s head sweetly. “Karta hai na… bahot mann karta… ab umra hi kitni bachi hai… bas jo kuchh waqt bacha hai… usse apno ke saath muskurate huye aur hasi khushi bitana chahti hoon.”

Shehnaaz smiled and hugged Dadi sideways. “Aap aise kyun bol rahi hai… aap toh Abhi bhi itni jawan hai ke meri umra kam pad jaye.”

Dadi maa rolled her eyes. “Subah se tumhe main hi mili kya?”

Shehnaaz giggled. “Arre sachhi Dadi maa.”

Instantly standing up, Shehnaaz pulled Dadi maa along with her and started singing dramatically…

Ae meri zoharajabi…….

Shehnaaz and Dadi maa danced sweetly to the song, finally collapsing onto the bed in a fit of laughter.

It had been quite a while since Sidharth had landed on his bed, but sleep wouldn’t come. He sighed, closing his eyes, but the memories of the movie flashed in front of him, and unknown to himself, his lips curved into a smile.

It’s weird but true. That girl, Shehnaaz, has some kind of magic that spreads happiness and smiles wherever she goes. Pagal ladki. Why did she have to choose a comedy movie? Poor bhai. His whole plan flopped because of her…

This girl, I swear, Dadi maa has found the perfect partner in her. Two troublemakers in one team. God help us…

Sidharth rolled to another side in his bed, trying to make sense of his tangled thoughts. What happened that day? Why did her tears make him so uncomfortable? What he did was wrong, but why was he so adamant about her staying? Why did he want to bring that smile back to her face? Ugh, it’s just because I made her cry. Or maybe I wanted to make her smile. She looks so sweet when she smiles, that’s it…

Ugh, this sleep just isn’t coming. Frustrated, Sidharth buried his face into his pillow, but his mind kept wandering back to their first meeting. The disaster she was. How could she expect me to believe she’s human? Who climbs a tree to eat mangoes? And a girl, no less! Ugh, she managed to drive me crazy with absolute ease. And I didn’t call her motu that day, I just asked if she was comparing herself to a cricket ball…

God, this girl. I don’t know how bhabhi and her family tolerate her. On one hand, there’s bhabhi, so sweet and sincere, and on the other, this shaitan ladki… and her pregnancy…

The mere thought made Sidharth’s eyes snap open.

What the Hellllll…?

Just what on earth is he thinking? Why is he thinking about her? What the hell is wrong with him? Grhh, Sidharth, you’ve lost it seriously. You need peace, for God’s sake. How can you keep thinking about Shehnaaz, that disaster… and now she’s pregnant. This issue is not simple. Her family must not know about it. If this news spreads, the Gill family’s reputation will be ruined. God… I should talk to bhabhi about this. Only she can come up with a solution.

Yes, I will talk to bhabhi tomorrow itself.

“Shehnaaz, tell me clearly, what’s cooking in your mind?” Dadi maa asked finally, her curiosity piqued.

Shehnaaz smirked naughtily, “Ab ye toh kal hi pata chalega… bas aap ko Shukla ji ko rok ke rakhna hai. Kahin jane mat dijiyega unhe…”

Dadi maa rolled her eyes, “Waise bhi kal Sunday hai, so he will be home only.”

“Hmm,” Shehnaaz thought for a bit, “ye hui na baat.. maza ayega…”

“Kal ka plan kuchh toh batayiye,” Dadi maa couldn’t contain her curiosity.

Shehnaaz made a naughty face and started to whisper into Dadi maa’s ear. Dadi maa’s eyes widened more and more as Shehnaaz’s plan registered in her mind.

#MORNING

Sidharth walked through the hall, heading straight to Payal, who was sitting on the sofa.

“Umm bhabhi, mujhe aapse kuchh baat karni hai.”

Shehnaaz, Abhi, Payal, Dadi maa, and Rita ji looked at Sidharth strangely. No good morning, no hi, hello, just straight to the point.

Abhi asked, confused, “Kya baat hai Sidharth? Is all okay?”

Sidharth smiled weakly, “Haan bhai, sab thik hai. Bas bhabh se kuchh baat karni hai.”

Payal smiled, “Haan kahiye na veerji.”

“Woh… yahan nahi…” Sidharth glanced at Shehnaaz with a slight smirk, “Yahan bahot bheed hai.”

Shehnaaz looked at Sidharth with her mouth wide open in anger. Is he calling me bheed? Hell, he is looking at me and calling me bheed. Duffer, idiot… just wait a little longer, bachhu… today even Wahe Guru ji won’t be able to save you.

Dadi maa started her part, “Kya baat hai Sidharth? Hum sab aap ko bheed lag rahe hai?”

Sidharth sighed, “Not you, Dadi maa,” and then purposely looked at Shehnaaz, “Some particular you know…”

Enough is enough. Shehnaaz stood up, annoyed, “Shukla ji, are you by any chance talking about me?”

Sidharth made a mocking face, “And I had thought you were dumb.”

HELL!!

Is this a compliment or a taunt? Grhh, the idiot he is, always hell-bent on confusing me…

Shehnaaz looked at Dadi maa, making faces.

Dadi maa smirked, “Abhi nahi Sidharth. Tum baad me Payal se baat kar lena. Abhi kuchh important kaam hai.”

Sidharth, confused, “Important kaam?”

“Yes, we are playing a game,” Dadi maa declared, making Shehnaaz smirk.

Confused, Rita ji asked, “Maa, aap kya keh rahi hai?”

“Which game, Dadi maa?” followed Abhi.

“Me batati hun,” Shehnaaz silenced everyone and continued, “Basically we are playing Kaun Banega Crorepati. I will be asking questions, so simply I am Amitabh Bachchan.”

Sidharth knew it. If it’s a game, then definitely Shehnaaz’s plan is behind it. Grhh, and he is trapped again.

NO.

“I am not playing any game,” Sidharth stated firmly.

Abhi grinned, “I am in.”

Dadi maa looked at Sidharth with attitude, “Are you denying me, Sidharth?”

Sidharth made a puppy face, “Not you, Dadi maa. I was refusing this pagal.”

Huh! Shehnaaz made a gol-gappa face, “Shukla ji, how dare you call me pagal?”

“Why? Tumhe koi aur naam pasand hai? Psycho?” Sidharth smirked triumphantly.

Huh!

Shehnaaz was about to pounce on Sidharth, but Payal held her back, “Both of you, stop it now. We all are playing a game, okay? Calm down.”

Rita ji suppressed her giggle at Sidharth’s state, “Sidharth bete, come on, it’s just a game.”

Poor Sid had no option but to comply.

Shehnaaz sat on the chair while Sidharth sat in front of her.

Shehnaaz mocked, “Are you ready to play, Mr. Shukla?”

Sidharth faked an idiotic smile, “Do I have an option?”

Shehnaaz smirked naughtily and started speaking like Amitabh Bachchan, “Deviyo aur Sajjano, let’s play Kaun Banega Crorepati.”

Everyone clapped, so engrossed in the game as if they were watching a live cricket match.

Shehnaaz asked the first question, “Ek hathi ke samne banana rakha hai, par hathi ne banana nahi khaya. batayiye Kyun?”

Sidharth looked at Shehnaaz confused, along with everyone else.

Shehnaaz continued, “A – Usse bhook nahi hai. B – Banana plastic ka hai.”

Sidharth rolled his eyes, “It’s A – Usse bhook nahi hai.”

Abhi almost fell off the couch, lost in the game. Payal rolled her eyes and pulled him back. Dadi maa slapped his head for disturbing, and Abhi made a baby face and again concentrated on the game.

Shehnaaz gave a thoughtful, dramatic look like Amitabh Bachchan while Sidharth wanted to grab her neck for finding such innovative ways to annoy him.

Shehnaaz sighed, “It’s a wrong answer, Mr. Shukla. The answer is C – Hathi plastic ka hai.”

Huh!

Everyone started accusing Sidharth of being so dumb.

Sidharth stood up, annoyed, “What the hell? Option C toh diya hi nahi tha.”

Shehnaaz too stood up and grinned, “Aye lo, ek toh main aapko paise jeetane mein help kar rahi hun. Aapne pucha option C and D? Aapki responsibility hai puchhne ki. Aapne nahi pucha toh maine bhi nahi bataya. Aap paise jeetane wale hain, main nahi. Anyways, you are out. You earn 0.00 rupees.”

Everyone burst into laughter while Sidharth stared at her in disbelief. Is she for real? Bhabhi must have picked up an alien. How can she do this?

Ugh, disaster.

Sidharth grumpily thumped on the sofa while Abhi sat on the chair with an attitude.

Shehnaaz smiled cutely, “Ready, jiju?”

Abhi nodded with a cheeky smile, and Sidharth rolled his eyes.

Shehnaaz then asked, “Jiju, ek hathi aur cheeti jhagad rahe the. Suddenly cheeti ne hathi ke kaan me jaake aisa kya kaha jisse hathi sharma ke bhaag gaya?”

Everyone started to think again while Sidharth closed his eyes, hoping to catch some sleep.

Shehnaaz continued, “Options: A – Main tumhara khoon pi jaungi. B – Main tumse kabhi baat nahi karungi. C – Mujhe tumse shaadi karni hai. D – Main tumhare bachhe ki maa banne wali hun.”

Sidharth’s eyes snapped open at the last option, staring at Shehnaaz motionlessly. God, what is she made of? What the hell is she asking? If such questions are asked in Kaun Banega Crorepati, the show will end up on the streets.

Abhi started to think, and so did others.

Abhi sighed after a long time, “Can I use a lifeline?”

Sidharth, for once, wanted to grab his brother’s neck along with Shehnaaz’s. Why is he being so dramatic? Grhh…

Shehnaaz nodded her head, “Aap ke paas ek hi lifeline hai. Aap ye sab jo baithe hain humari audience, in me se kisi ek se puchh sakte hain.”

Abhi smiled, “Okay, I would like to ask Dadi maa, as she is the most experienced person here.”

Dadi maa smirked and answered, “The answer is D – Main tumhare bachhe ki maa banne wali hun.”

Rita ji rolled her eyes at her maa’s antics and waited for Shehnaaz to continue.

Shehnaaz thought for a while and smiled widely, “Your answer is right. Congratulations, jiju, you won! Aap 10,000 rupees jeet gaye.”

Abhi started to dance in happiness, and so did others, while Sidharth desperately needed to kill Shehnaaz if he wanted to remain human. But poor him…

Shehnaaz smiled cutely and looked at Sidharth, “Shukla ji, dijiye 10,000 rupees.”

Sidharth looked at her baffled, and so did others.

“10,000? What 10,000?” asked Sidharth in shock.

Shehnaaz answered casually, “Arre, aap haar gaye na. Toh punishment. Ab chaliye, jaldi se 10,000 dijiye.”

Sidharth stood up, annoyed, “Shehnaaz, Kaun Banega Crorepati mein aisa koi rule nahi.”

Shehnaaz rolled her eyes, “Par ye rule to maine banaya hai. Yahan par Amitabh Bachchan main hun.”

Others giggled while Sidharth held his head, knowing he would go mad soon.

“Tumne mujhe aisa koi rule nahi bataya,” he tried again.

Shehnaaz made an o-shaped mouth, “Aapne pucha?”

Sidharth made faces, “Umm, no.”

Shehnaaz smirked, “Then aapko rules pehle puchhne chahiye the na as a player. Ek toh khud galti karte hain, aur fir mujhe bolte hain.”

Sidharth wanted to hit his head somewhere..

Shehnaaz made a cute face, “Ab chaliye, dijiye 10,000 rs.”

The entire family burst into laughter except Sidharth, who was boiling, and Shehnaaz, who was blinking her eyelashes innocently.

Poor Sidharth had no option but to comply.

____________

Sidharth was sitting in his room, engrossed in some file, when Shehnaaz barged in.

“Shukla ji…”

Sidharth knew who it was but didn’t bother to reply and just continued his work.

Confused, Shehnaaz walked in and stood in front of him, poking his shoulder. “Shukla ji…”

Sidharth still didn’t answer and kept his head buried in the file.

Shehnaaz made an annoyed face and pulled the file away. “Aise bhi kya busy ho ke mujhe hi bhi nahi bol sakte?”

Sidharth looked at her. “Hi…” With that, he again started reading the file.

Shehnaaz looked at him, hell… What’s with his attitude? Show off… Chhaddo, mujhe bhi nahi baat karni.

She stormed out of the room, and Sidharth sighed in relief, smirking at her angrily walking out.

Payal and Shehnaaz were making some dishes in the kitchen while Shehnaaz was more concentrated on cribbing.

“Kya hua Shehnaaz?” asked Payal, knowing her sister too well.

Shehnaaz made an annoyed face. “Di, ye aapke devar hai… Shukla ji. Main bata rahi hun… ye normal nahi hai.”

Payal looked at her, confused. “Kya matlab?”

Shehnaaz sat on the slab. “Mera matlab hai ke pagal hai… psycho.”

Payal rolled her eyes and continued her work. “Ab kya hua?”

Shehnaaz made a face. “Main unke room me gayi, unko itne sweet se Shukla ji kehke pukara, par unhone jawab bhi nahi diya. Jaise ke main exist hi nahi karti.”

Payal suppressed her smile. “Phir?”

“Phir kya… Maine 2-3 baar bulaya, unki file bhi door ki, fir bhi attitude dikha rahe the… weirdo.”

“Sana, aise nahi bolte… aur woh busy honge,” Payal tried to make her understand.

Shehnaaz wasn’t convinced. “But Dii…”

“Shehnaaz!”

Shehnaaz pouted her lips. “Fine…” and stormed out of there, while Payal rolled her eyes and continued her work.

Shehnaaz tried so many ways to talk to Sidharth, to chat with him, to annoy him, but he simply didn’t give in. He didn’t even look at her; talking or responding was too far-fetched.

The entire day passed, but Sidharth had no plans to change his behavior.

Shehnaaz finally got frustrated with his attitude and decided not to try anymore.

Sidharth smirked, knowing he had finally succeeded. She irritates him, and he really doesn’t want to go mad because of her. It’s good that he stays away from her.

The dinner went in silence, and none spoke anything.

Finally, Dadi maa broke the silence. “Beta, please aap dono kuchh aur din ruk jayiye.”

That caught Sidharth’s attention. What does Dadi mean? They are going back? When? Why did no one tell him? Not even Shehnaaz. But then he realized he hadn’t talked to her since morning. How could she tell him? For some reason, he felt guilt… and maybe somewhere weird too. They all have got used to each other… and now… ugh.

Payal smiled. “Dadi maa, hum jarur rukte, par Darji ka phone aaya tha… woh…”

Kabeer ji nodded understandingly. “Koi baat nahi beta. Parso Abhi aap dono ko pohochane aayega.”

Abhi liked that. He was already in a foul mood because of their going back, but this will at least give him some more time to spend with his tweety. He smiled weakly and accepted.

Sidharth looked at Shehnaaz, who didn’t even speak a word. That was quite unlike her. She would never stop talking, but her silence made him kind of confused today. She wasn’t even looking up, not sparing him a look… or maybe that was unintentional.

He sighed and continued his dinner.

Sidharth rested in a chair in the balcony and gave it a thought.

He shouldn’t have behaved so rudely with her… that too for no reason. He knows she is childish… naughty but good at heart. He has made her upset, but he just wanted to stay away from her. What’s wrong with that? She annoys him, and his behavior was just a reaction to it.

They are going back… so what? One day or the other, they had to go. Is their going back affecting him? But why? Why would it affect him? Talking about bhabhi… one day or the other, she will be coming here forever… and talking about Shehnaaz… he had no words for it.

She is just bhabhi’s sister. They share no other relationship, not even a good friendship. They just had started to be friends, but him avoiding her broke that as well… her stopping trying to talk to him disappointed him… but why? Why did he want her to try more and manaofy him? Why would she do that?

And why the hell am I asking so many questions? Why are relationships always so difficult? And about her pregnancy… should I talk about it to bhabhi or not? Or maybe I am trying to interfere in her personal life. What right do I have? And she had said bhabhi knows about it. I think I should stay away from their private matter.

She is in a relationship with someone else… the thought stirred something inside him he couldn’t understand. Something was eating him up.

But have I hurt Shehnaaz today? Intentionally or unintentionally?

I hope she will talk to me tomorrow. They are going back the day after tomorrow, and then they might meet only at the time of bhai and bhabhi’s marriage.

But how does it matter anyway?

Grhhhhh… God, I’m so confused…

Why the hell does this girl affect me so much…

Not finding an answer to any questions, he went to bed and thumped himself into bed for a forced sleep.

#MORNING

Sidharth’s eyes roamed all around the dining table but frowned not finding Shehnaaz anywhere. He knew he had been rude with her yesterday, but the news of their leaving just made the situation all the more worse.

They have just started to be friends, and he shouldn’t have done that.

Now she is leaving… but before she leaves, he will have to talk to her and confirm that she is not upset with him. He himself didn’t understand his own thoughts, but he refused to think about it and confirmed to himself that he is feeling like this for the sake of their friendship. He has to make it up to her before she leaves.

The breakfast went in silence, and none asked about Shehnaaz. Even Dadi maa was absent, which was quite unusual.

Sighing, Sidharth finished his breakfast in a hurry and rushed to Shehnaaz’s room, but she was nowhere to be found.

Frowning, Sidharth went to Dadi maa’s room, but even Dadi maa was absent.

Sighing, he was about to ask Payal when his dad informed both sons about an important meeting, and they had to leave for the office immediately.

_________________

The meeting went well, but Sidharth was a little strained the entire time. Finishing the meeting, he dashed into his cabin and dialed her number, but it was out of reach. Frustrated, he dialed Dadi maa’s number, but the same response.

What the hell…

Ye ladki bhi na… yahan pe mujhe pareshan karke khud maze se ghoom rahi hogi… mera hi dimag kharab ho gaya hai jo main usse sorry kehne ke baare mein soch raha tha. Isse to koi farak hi nahi padhta… pata nahi bhagwan ko bhi kya sujhi jo aise piece ko bana diya… na khud chain se jeeti hai na mujhe jeene deti hai…

Aur shararat… pata nahi Rano aunty ne kaunsi shararat wali movie dekhi thi Shehnaaz ke time par…

He was shocked by his own sentence and imagination.

What the freaking hell…

What the hell is wrong with him… he is speaking like an idiot and almost like Shehnaaz… Aakhir ye ladki ne mujhe pagal bana hi diya…

His day passed like hell, but still, he had no clue about Shehnaaz and Dadi maa. He wasn’t even sure if they were together or not.

But when he came back home around 7…

He realized that she was deliberately avoiding him…

And…

He felt HURT!

He felt damn hurt…
