Chapter 37

Shehnaaz cleared her throat and nervously brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, trying to act casual despite the teasing atmosphere around her. “Kya bol rahe ho tum log..” she muttered, trying to deflect the attention, but her tone betrayed her shyness.

Nisha and Ankita exchanged amused glances, their smirks widening as they leaned in closer, sensing her discomfort. “Ab aap hume batayengi… ye world’s most interesting lovestory between Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill… kab shuru huyi?” Nisha’s playful question hung in the air, teasing and mischievous, as both girls waited for Shehnaaz’s response.

At that moment, Shehnaaz’s face flushed a deep shade of red. She quickly dropped her gaze, feeling the heat rush to her cheeks, and instinctively covered her face with her hands in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. She was too flustered to say anything. How could she explain something that was so close to her heart, something that even she was still trying to figure out?

Anu, always quick to lighten the mood, gave her a soft smack on the arm, snapping Shehnaaz out of her bashful trance. “Kamini… pyar mere bhai se… aur mujhi se chhupaya tune? So not done!” Anu’s exaggerated pout made Shehnaaz frown in mock annoyance, though her heart swelled with warmth. Shehnaaz knew Anu was genuinely surprised and perhaps a little hurt that she hadn’t shared sooner.

Shehnaaz rolled her eyes dramatically, trying to maintain her composure, but then Mayank chimed in with his usual teasing tone. “Bechara Sidharth Shukla… usse pata nahi hai abhi tak tu kya khatarnak aafat hai,” he mocked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

That was enough to make Shehnaaz break out of her shy shell. She shot him a deadly glare and, without hesitation, slapped him hard on the arm, causing Mayank to wince in pain. He rubbed his arm, muttering under his breath, “God knows how Ranbir bears this waking session all the time…” His exaggerated reaction drew a giggle from everyone, except Shehnaaz, who pretended to still be annoyed.

Anu, always the practical one, rolled her eyes at their playful banter, clearly impatient. “Ye sab baad me… pehle hume lovestory janni hai,” she said, cutting through the noise with a determined look on her face. She wasn’t about to let Shehnaaz off the hook that easily.

Shehnaaz bit her lip nervously, her thoughts racing as she tried to figure out where to even begin. How could she explain the whirlwind of emotions that had taken over her since Sidharth came into her life? It wasn’t something she could just sum up in a few words. It was everything – the stolen glances, the shared moments, the way her heart raced every time he was near. But she wasn’t ready to spill it all, not yet.

Clearing her throat once again, she tried to stall for time, but Nisha wasn’t having any of it. “Kya bhav kha rahi hai yaar ye ladki… bol jaldi,” Nisha said, folding her arms, her impatience growing.

Shehnaaz huffed, letting out a deep sigh as she prepared herself to start. “It’s a little weird story…” she began hesitantly, knowing full well that her friends would make it anything but easy for her to tell her tale.

As expected, Ankita couldn’t help but giggle, already preparing to interrupt. “Ab Shehnaz Gill ko pyar hua hai… weird hi hogi na story!” Ankita teased, and the room burst into laughter. She even started clapping at her own joke, the others joining in, amplifying the playful atmosphere.

Shehnaaz bit her lip, already anticipating that this was going to be one of those tit-for-tat teasing sessions. She could feel the heat of embarrassment rising in her cheeks but decided to brush it off. Ignoring their giggles, she began, “A couple of months ago—”

But before she could even get the story going, Anu suddenly screamed in disbelief, cutting her off, “Couple of months?! Tab se tera aur bhai ka chakkar chal raha hai… aur humse chhupaya tune? Bhai ko main nahi chhodna!” She waved her hands dramatically, while the others joined in, making it clear they wouldn’t let Shehnaaz get away with keeping such a big secret from them.

The next moment, they all started playfully swatting at Shehnaaz, making her groan in cute frustration. “Offo… sunni hai ya nahi story?” she asked, her pout making her frustration seem more adorable than serious.

“Ye lo… suno… chori aur upar se seena jori!” Ankita taunted, clearly enjoying this teasing session to the fullest. Her laughter filled the room, and Shehnaaz could only roll her eyes in response, realizing that this wasn’t going to be easy.

Determined to finally get the story out, Shehnaaz took a deep breath and was about to start speaking again when her phone rang. Instantly, the room erupted into loud hooting and whistles. Shehnaaz could feel her patience wearing thin, but there was something amusing about the chaos her friends were creating around her.

Before Shehnaaz could even react, Nisha snatched the phone from her hand. “Let’s see who’s calling now!” she announced with a mischievous grin, while the others laughed harder, eagerly anticipating what was about to unfold. Without giving Shehnaaz a chance to protest, Nisha put the call on speaker.

Sidharth, feeling uneasy after Shehnaaz had abruptly disconnected the previous call, dialed her again. He wasn’t sure what was happening on the other end, but the sound of giggling reached him, making him furrow his brows in curiosity.

Before he could even say a word, Nisha and Ankita, both unable to contain their excitement, screamed into the phone, “Omg! Hiii Jiju!!”

Shehnaaz’s eyes widened in shock, blinking rapidly as she stared at her mischievous friends. Her heart raced as she realized what they had just done. How could they? She felt her face grow hot, a mixture of surprise and embarrassment flooding her senses.

On the other end, Sidharth chuckled, his deep voice rumbling softly. He had already figured out what kind of trouble his Shehnaaz had landed in. Clearly, her friends were up to their usual teasing antics. “Heyy there…” he greeted them casually, his amusement evident in his tone.

Anu, ever the drama queen, put on a mock display of cute anger, crossing her arms as she pouted, “Dekha… bhai ke paas mujhe call karne ke liye time nahi, lekin Shehnaaz ko call karne ke liye time hai.”

Shehnaaz’s jaw dropped as she looked at Anu, her eyes wide with disbelief. Was she really trying to guilt-trip Sidharth in the middle of this chaos? She wished she could disappear into the floor.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the line, Sidharth rolled his eyes at his sister’s cheesy line, though a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Yes, Anu, we’ll speak at home,” he responded calmly, his voice holding a playful warning.

Anu’s face instantly lost all its fake bravado as her brother’s voice reached her. She bit her lip nervously, realizing she might have taken the joke a bit too far. “Bhai, sorry na… main toh awehi aap ki tang khich rahi thi…” she said, trying to sound innocent as she looked around, hoping her friends would back her up.

Sidharth was about to respond, but Shehnaaz, still in a state of shock, blurted out without thinking, “Hayy rabba mere… Sidharth Shukla ki tang…?”

The second the words left her lips, Shehnaaz froze, her eyes going wide with horror. She immediately bit her lip in embarrassment, her cheeks turning crimson as she realized what she had just blabbered in front of everyone—especially him.

The gang erupted into laughter, their giggles filling the room, while on the other end, Sidharth couldn’t help but smile inwardly. The way Shehnaaz had innocently blurted out her words made him wish he could be there, just to pull her cheeks for being such a cutie.

Anu, still giggling, chimed in, “Bhai… ye to bilkul apki tarah baat karti hai… abhi se haan!”

Hearing that, Shehnaaz felt her face burn with embarrassment. She wanted to hide from the world, sharam se pani-pani at their teasing. Nisha quickly jumped in to back up Anu, “Arre Anu… pyar ka asar hi aisa hota hai!” They both laughed again, enjoying how flustered their friend had become.

Sidharth, shaking his head in amusement, listened to the madness on the other end of the call. Her pagal gang was having a field day teasing Shehnaaz. Yet, somewhere deep inside, he felt a sense of peace. Seeing Shehnaaz laughing again, surrounded by her friends, brought him relief. After everything, she had found her happiness again. He had been silently worried, and if any of these friends had dared to hurt his baby again, he wouldn’t have let them even come close to her.

Anu, always quick to think of something new to stir up trouble, giggled mischievously as a thought popped into her head. “Bhai… ab main confuse ho rahi hoon… main aapko bhai bulaoon ya jij?” she teased, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Sidharth’s eyes widened in surprise, taken aback by her sudden question. “Of course bhai bulaogi, Anu… you’re on my side!” he said, asserting his position as her brother.

But before Anu could respond, Shehnaaz, feeling slightly playful now that the attention was off her for a moment, pouted her lips in mock protest. “Offo… Anu meri side se hai na, Sidharth?” she pouted, her voice carrying a soft whine.

Sidharth could almost picture her adorable pout, and he smiled to himself, wishing he could see her face at that exact moment. “Achha baba… jo tum kaho,” he replied softly, his voice filled with warmth and surrender.

Hearing him so easily give in, Shehnaaz grinned cutely, her heart fluttering at how he had just pampered her. Meanwhile, her friends were almost fainting in disbelief at the way Sidharth was speaking to her. This was Sidharth Shukla, the no-nonsense guy, and here he was, melting for Shehnaaz.

Anu, her eyes wide with shock, couldn’t contain herself. She had never, ever heard her brother speak in such a tone with anyone. Like, seriously? Was this really happening? Her excitement bubbled over as she spoke, “Omg, bhai… you just agreed to her demand… wow… ye baat toh maa ko batani hi padegi!”

Shehnaaz stared at Anu, her eyes wide with shock as the playful conversation spiraled into a new direction. Before she could even respond, Sidharth, with a knowing sigh, rolled his eyes and said, “You are doing no such thing, Anu.”

Shehnaaz immediately jumped to her defense, her face taking on the cutest baby expression, “Anu nahi na please… aise thodi hota hai…” Her voice carried that soft pleading tone she knew could melt hearts.

Anu, unfazed by her brother’s or Shehnaaz’s reaction, grinned wickedly. She was clearly enjoying this too much. “Then what will I get, bhai?” she asked with a cheeky smile, pushing the teasing to the next level.

Sidharth, though surprised at his sister’s boldness, couldn’t help but laugh at her antics. “Really, Anu…?” He shook his head in disbelief. “Okay, fine… what do you want?”

Anu’s face lit up with victory, and she giggled like a mischievous child. “I need a new phone,” she declared confidently, as if sealing a grand deal.

The gang, always quick to support their partner in crime, gave Anu a thumbs-up, leaving Shehnaaz feeling like she wanted to disappear into the ground. The embarrassment was overwhelming, and her friends were clearly not going to stop teasing her. Shehnaz’s cheeks turned a deep shade of red as she glared at Anu and the others.

Sidharth, ever the calm in this storm, merely shook his head in resignation. “Deal,” he agreed, his tone light but filled with affection.

As soon as the word left his mouth, Shehnaaz couldn’t take it anymore. In a panic, she snatched the phone from Anu’s hands and ran from the room, her friends’ laughter echoing behind her. She could still hear Sidharth chuckling on the other end, “Stop running, baby,” his voice filled with amusement.

Shehnaaz finally found a quiet corner to hide in, breathing heavily from the impromptu sprint. She plopped herself down on a chair, trying to catch her breath. “Suna na aapne… mujhe kaise sata rahe hai,” she grumbled into the phone, her voice carrying a playful whine as she complained about her friends.

Sidharth’s soft chuckle reached her ears, making her frown deepen into a grumpy pout. *Hmph, even he’s laughing at me!* she thought. “Aap bhi has rahe ho… mene nahi baat karna!” she declared, her voice huffy, sounding every bit like a child throwing a tantrum.

Sidharth, now standing up from his desk, shook his head with a gentle smile. He made his way towards his private room adjacent to his cabin, his heart feeling lighter after hearing her voice. “Nahi has raha jaan… gussa mat ho ab,” he soothed, his voice soft and tender, filled with warmth that he reserved only for her.

Shehnaaz, hearing the gentleness in his tone, felt her heart melt. Even with the teasing and chaos, Sidharth’s presence, whether near or far, always had the power to calm her, to make her feel seen and loved.

“Aap kaha ho?” Shehnaaz’s voice softened, carrying the weight of her longing. She missed him, missed the warmth of yesterday when they were together, wrapped in each other’s presence. Every second apart felt heavier than the last.

Sidharth, on the other end, opened the fridge, pulling out a bottle of juice. “Me office me hun… subah khud aana chahta tha, but ek important meeting plan ho gaya clients ke saath… isliye.” His voice was calm, steady, but she knew he hated being away as much as she did. He was always so punctual, so responsible.

Shehnaaz let out a small sigh, feeling the emptiness of their distance. “Mujhe guards nahi chahiye na,” she murmured, her stubbornness showing. She wasn’t used to being watched over constantly, but she knew Sidharth was just looking out for her.

After taking a few sips of juice, Sidharth placed the bottle back in the fridge and settled onto the sofa. “They are for your safety na, mera bachha… I’ll tell them to keep a little distance, bas thoda door se.” His tone was gentle, understanding her desire for space but firm in his need to protect her.

Shehnaaz’s heart ached with how much she missed him. The day had felt long, dragging on without his presence. She wanted to be in his arms again, to feel his warmth, his heartbeat next to hers. “Mujhe aapki yaad aa rahi hai,” she whispered, her voice breaking softly, betraying how deeply she felt his absence. It was as if all the walls she built to stay strong without him were crumbling now.

Sidharth smiled with a sweet ache, his heart swelling with affection. “I miss you too, mera bachha,” he confessed with all the love he held for her. He understood her completely—how delicate her emotions were, how raw she felt after they had spent over 48 hours together. She was like a child in love, every feeling magnified, every absence felt more keenly. “Did you cry?” he asked softly, knowing her too well.

Shehnaaz couldn’t help but smile, though a little shyly. “A little,” she admitted quietly, her heart fluttering just hearing his concern. Sidharth sighed softly on the other end, a mix of love and tenderness. “Uttara aur Ranbir ne tumhare liye jo kiya… I will never forget, baby,” he said, his voice filled with gratitude for the friends who had stood by her side.

Shehnaaz’s smile deepened, feeling the warmth of his words. “Janti hun main aapko,” she responded, her voice laced with affection. She knew him inside and out, understood the depth of his gratitude and love. “And they are one of the supporting pillars of our love story… jo unhone hamare pyaar ke liye kiya, they sacrificed their lives for it,” she added, her heart swelling with the knowledge of the people who had supported their love.

Sidharth smiled too, lost in thought for a moment. They had been through so much together, and it was moments like this that reminded him of how strong their bond was—how even with the teasing and the distance, they were always connected. No matter where he was or what obstacles came their way, their love felt unshakable, as if it had weathered storms and come out stronger on the other side.

“kya soch rahe hai aap..?” Shehnaaz couldn’t help but wonder what was running through Sidharth’s mind as he suddenly fell silent. His sudden pause caught her off guard, and she felt a curious flutter in her chest. Her thoughts raced with questions about what he might be thinking. The silence felt heavy, and she desperately wanted to break it.

Sidharth’s smile softened as he responded, “Hmm.. sham ko I will come home.. tab bataunga..”

Shehnaaz’s heart skipped a beat at the thought of him coming home in the evening. The anticipation of his presence filled her with a warm glow. She missed him so much, and the thought of seeing him later made her feel a surge of joy. “Hayy sachhii..” she exclaimed, her voice tinged with excitement. “Aap pakka aaoge na..?”

His chuckle, gentle and reassuring, made her heart flutter even more. “Haan baba.. pakka I’ll come..” he confirmed, his voice carrying a promise that seemed to wrap around her like a comforting blanket. Shehnaaz let out a sweet sigh of relief, and Sidharth could almost feel the soft relief in her voice, tugging at his heartstrings in a tender way. He felt an irresistible urge to pull her close, to hold her and never let go. “Naaz…” he murmured, his voice dripping with affection.

“Haan ji..” she replied softly, the way her name rolled off his tongue felt like a soothing balm. Hearing her name from him was always a pleasure, like sweet honey flowing smoothly. It felt intimate and special.

Her “haan ji” was so endearing, a touch of Punjabi charm that made Sidharth smile. He remembered how she used such words, much like Jasbeera Maa, adding a familiar and comforting touch to their conversation. “Sab tang kar rahe hai meri jaan ko..?” he asked, his tone playful and affectionate.

Shehnaaz’s face instantly morphed into a cute, pouty expression. “Aur nahi toh kya.. mujhe kab se chidha rahe hai.. keh rahe hai ke lovestory batao.. kab shuru huyi.. kaisi huyi.. sab batao..” She said, her voice filled with a mix of frustration and affection.

Sidharth chuckled, picturing her as a little puppy dog, her expression so endearing and innocent. “So what did you say..?” he asked, amusement lacing his words.

“Offoo wohi toh na..” she groaned cutely, stretching out the word “offoo” in an exaggerated manner that made Sidharth’s grin widen. Her playful frustration was evident, and it made him smile even more. “Ab feeling ko shabdon me kaise bayan karu..?” she wondered aloud, more to herself than to him, her eyes reflecting a mixture of confusion and consideration.

Sidharth pondered over her words, feeling a deep resonance with her observation. It was true, emotions often elude words—they’re best felt rather than spoken. As he thought about how a simple video call could let him see her face instantly, he realized that this convenience of today’s generation might strip away some of the charm. He enjoyed the anticipation and the old-school feeling of longing and excitement that came with waiting to see her. It added a special touch to their relationship, something beyond the immediate gratification of modern technology.

He smiled softly as he thought, “Aisa ho sakta hai.. Shehnaz problem me ho aur Shehnaz ke Jana ke paas solution na ho..” The playful idea amused him, and he savored the traditional sweetness of such moments. It was part of why he cherished their old-fashioned way of loving each other, where every little moment was savored and every anticipation heightened their bond.

Her eyes lit up with excitement when she heard his voice again. “Sachhi Jana.. par kaise..?” she asked eagerly, her curiosity palpable.

Sidharth’s chuckle was warm and comforting as he responded, “Thoda patience rakho jaan..” His tone was playful yet tender. “Aur un sabko bhi rakhne ko bolo..” he added, referring to the patience needed from everyone involved.

“Hmmmm..” she hummed thoughtfully, her mind racing as she tried to piece together his words. Meanwhile, Sidharth walked to his closet to retrieve a confidential file, the task he had initially come for. He noticed her restlessness and asked, “Kuch kehna hai..?”

“Haan.. woh..” she hesitated, biting her lip nervously. An intense, almost overwhelming urge to hug him washed over her, making her feel vulnerable.

Sidharth’s voice turned serious, yet gentle, as he addressed her impulse. “Don’t do that baby..” His deep, husky tone carried a hint of huskiness and a touch of authority. “By now, I know how you react to certain things, love.. stop biting that lip now..”

Shehnaaz let go of her lip immediately, her heart racing at the intensity of his voice. His deep, passionate tone sent a shiver through her, stirring emotions she could barely contain. “Offoo.. I love you na,” she murmured, her voice tinged with a playful frustration as if blaming him for the swirl of feelings inside her. Overcome by the rush of affection and exasperation, she ended the call, leaving the connection abruptly but with a lingering sense of warmth.

On his end, Sidharth felt a deep sigh of relief and contentment. The echo of her words lingered in his heart, calming him in a way that words alone could not describe. The simple, heartfelt expression of love she had shared had a soothing effect on him, wrapping him in a blanket of emotional comfort. He gazed at the now silent phone, imagining her voice and the feelings behind it. Whispering to the dead device as if it were still alive with her presence, he murmured, “I love you mera bachha.. I love you so damnn muchhh..” His words were a soft, heartfelt confession, reaching out to her even though she wasn’t on the other end of the line.

_____________

The day couldn’t have dragged on any slower for Sidharth. He found himself constantly glancing at the clock, counting the hours, the minutes, the seconds until evening. All he could think about was rushing home to see Shehnaaz, his heart brimming with a youthful excitement he hadn’t felt in years. The idea of holding her in his arms, feeling her close, brought a smile to his face. It was like he was a teenager again, restless and eager. He never imagined that the same people who usually tiptoed around him in fear could ever tease him. But when he finally got home from the office, he realized it was all part of a grand plan – and of course, it was orchestrated by his mother.

As soon as he walked through the door, Anu’s teasing voice greeted him from the living room. “Maa, aaj bhai bhabhi ke ghar ka rasta toh nahi bhul gaye?” she said, barely able to contain her laughter, while sitting comfortably on the sofa next to Rita ji. She didn’t even look at Sidharth, who stood there, confused and slightly thrown off by the unexpected teasing.

Rita ji tried her best to suppress a smile as she joined in, “Pata nahi beta… aaj shayad galti se humari bhi yaad aa gayi ho.”

Sidharth rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed but unable to suppress the slight twitch of amusement on his lips. Here they were, teasing him right to his face, ignoring the infamous angry glare he was giving them.

Vicky, who had just entered and taken a seat next to Anu, couldn’t resist adding to the fun. With a smirk, he chimed in, “Bechari humari bhabhi ne yaad dilaya hoga ke… suniye, aapke ghar mein bhi maa, Vicky aur Anu hai… unhe bhi apna chehra dikha dijiye.” He then made an exaggerated baby face, instantly noticing the flicker of irritation in Sidharth’s eyes.

Rita ji, enjoying every moment, continued mischievously, “Ek humari bahu hai, jinhe humari itni chinta hai ke hume phone karke humara haal-chal poochh rahi thi aaj… aur ek humara beta hai, jinke paas toh humare liye waqt hi nahi.”

At the mention of Shehnaaz, Sidharth’s ears perked up. His heart skipped a beat, and without thinking, he blurted out, “Shehnaaz ne phone kiya tha?”

The moment the words left his mouth, he regretted it. He knew instantly that he had just given them more ammunition to continue their teasing. He could already see the glint in their eyes, and it was clear they weren’t going to let this go easily.

Anu couldn’t contain her amusement and burst into a chuckle. “Kya baat hai bhai, bhabhi ka naam sunte hi…” she teased, trailing off as her giggles became more pronounced. The room was filled with laughter, the playful atmosphere infectious.

Sidharth shot a glare at Anu and Vicky, who, sensing his irritation, inched closer to Rita ji for protection. Rita ji, with an amused shake of her head, rolled her eyes and said, “Sid, mere bachhon ko darana band karo.” Her voice was a mix of exasperation and affection, making it clear she was used to the playful dynamics of the family.

Realizing he was not going to win this battle, Sidharth sighed and gave in. “I’m going,” he said, his voice tinged with a mix of frustration and resignation. He turned and made his way towards his room, his exit punctuated by the peals of laughter that followed him.

As he walked away, he could still hear the echoes of their laughter. Despite the teasing, a smile tugged at his lips. The warmth and joy of his family were palpable, and though he was eager to be with Shehnaaz, he couldn’t help but appreciate these moments of levity. With a final shake of his head, he closed the door behind him, leaving the family in their cheerful fit of giggles.

_____________

Sidharth stood in front of the mirror, his reflection gazing back at him with a mix of confidence and unease. “So Mr. Sidharth Shukla,” he muttered to himself, “aapki Naaz aapka wait kar rahi hogi. Jaise ke aapne unse promise kiya tha ke aap unhe batayenge aap dono ke pyar ki kahani, taki wo aage jakar apne dosto ko bata sake…” The realization of the promise he made struck him hard, and he felt a sudden chill. This was definitely not his forte.

He flashed a sexy smile at his reflection, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. He was at a loss for words. He wasn’t a poet who could weave emotions into beautiful verses, nor was he a great writer who could craft an article about their love story. What was he supposed to do now? The thought of Sidharth Shukla, the man who could handle any situation with ease, fumbling with words was both amusing and frustrating.

Desperate for a solution, he dashed towards the study room. He grabbed a pen and notepad, determined to pen down something—anything—that could capture the essence of his feelings. He had never found writing to be this challenging before. He sighed heavily, realizing that no words were coming to mind.

He scrawled across the paper, “Love… love is a deal forever between two hearts.” He looked at the words and immediately cringed. “What the hell?” he thought. “A deal? That doesn’t fit love at all.” In frustration, he tore the paper, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it aside. He focused on a new sheet, trying to shake off his embarrassment.

“Think, man, think!” he urged himself. “Yun toh itni bakbak karta hai, aur ab jab kuch likhne ki baari aayi hai, you are such a thoughtless dumbass. God, I feel like I never learned a single word in school. Why can’t I find a single proper word?” He was feeling the pressure and frustration build, imagining how Shehnaaz might react if he didn’t come up with something meaningful.

He tried again, writing, “They say, don’t fall in LOVE but rise in it.” He read it over and felt it was too typical and filmy. With a groan, he tore that sheet of paper too, throwing it into the growing pile of crumpled papers around him.

As time passed, the room became littered with a small mountain of discarded attempts at expressing his feelings. In his frustration, he remained oblivious to the fact that Dadi, Rita ji, and Anu were standing by the door, watching him with amused expressions.

“Just what on earth is he doing?” Anu whispered, unable to contain her laughter at her brother’s endearing struggle.

Rita ji, ever the dramatic observer, gasped in mock surprise, “Kya ye LOVE LETTER likh raha hai…?” Her eyes widened with exaggerated disbelief, as if the very idea of Sidharth writing a love letter was the most unexpected thing in the world.

Anu, equally astonished, could only manage a stunned, “Whattttt…” She stared at her brother, unable to reconcile the image of the suave, confident Sidharth Shukla with the notion of him penning a love letter. Her mother’s dramatic reveal had left her in utter disbelief.

Sidharth, caught off guard by their reactions, turned around sharply. He was startled to find Anu and Rita ji standing right behind him, their expressions a mix of shock and amusement. His irritation was evident as he rolled his eyes and shot Rita ji a pleading look. He silently begged her not to add to his predicament with more teasing, especially when he was already struggling.

Rita ji, though clearly entertained, understood his frustration. She shook her head with a chuckle and gestured for Anu to leave. Anu, though reluctant, made a face of resignation and exited the room, casting one last puzzled glance back at her brother.

With the room now quieter, Rita ji took a seat beside Sidharth. Her teasing demeanor softened as she asked, “Ab bata, kya karne ke koshish kar raha hai… Mene tujhe kuchh likhte waqt itna confused nahi dekha…” Her voice held a note of genuine curiosity mixed with motherly concern. She leaned in slightly, her eyes searching his face for answers.

Sidharth sighed deeply and showed her his latest attempt at writing. The words read, “Love is love, love it with your heart and deal it with your life.” He looked at her, his frustration palpable.

Rita ji glanced at the paper and then back at Sidharth, her laughter bubbling to the surface once more. Despite her amusement, she could see how much he cared and how deeply he wanted to get this right. “Maa.. I need help.. please,” Sidharth finally admitted, his voice tinged with a mix of desperation and embarrassment.

Rita ji took the pen and paper from Sidharth’s hands with a gentle but firm grip. She placed them aside, and Sidharth watched her with a mixture of curiosity and relief. He saw her eyes soften as she took his hands into her own, her gaze filled with warmth and sincerity.

With a kind smile, Rita ji began, “Sid, pyar koi competition nahi hai. Jitna achha likhoge, utna achha nahi hoga. Pyar bas pyar hai. Uske liye aise practice ki koi zaroorat nahi hoti.” She looked deeply into his eyes, hoping her words would penetrate the confusion clouding his mind. “Jisse tum pyar karte ho, us insaan ke samne aate hi jo tumhare dil mein aaye, bas keh do.”

Sidharth tried to absorb the depth of her words, and Rita ji continued, her voice steady and reassuring. “Ab dekho, jab hum kisi insan se bahut din baad milte hain, toh hum usse kya kehte hain? I missed you. Hum yahi pehle kyun kehte hain? Kyunki jab hum us insaan se bahut din baad milte hain, toh usse dekhkar yahi pehla khayal humare man mein aata hai, aur hum usse shabdon mein bayan kar dete hain. Ab samajhe?”

Sidharth’s expression shifted from confusion to understanding. He nodded slowly, a look of relaxation spreading across his face. Rita ji’s words seemed to untangle the knots of anxiety in his heart, making him see the simplicity of expressing love.

Rita ji, seeing the change in him, added with a touch of affection, “Agar tumhe Shehnaaz se kuchh kehna hai, toh bas uski aankhon mein dekho, uske chehre ko padho, usse mehsoos karo. Aur jo tumhe kehna hai, woh tum apne aap samajh jaoge.” She ruffled Sidharth’s hair playfully, her gesture filled with motherly affection.

Sidharth felt a wave of gratitude wash over him. Rita ji’s advice was simple yet profound, and it gave him a sense of clarity he had been missing. He looked at her with a grateful smile, feeling more prepared to face the task ahead. The love he felt for Shehnaaz was deep and genuine, and he realized that expressing it didn’t have to be complex—it just needed to be sincere.
